Apple’s iPhone is amazing but I have some issues with it.
The iPhone has been announced for a while now and I have posted absolutely nothing about it. One reason is that the iPhone is not even for sale yet. It won’t be out until June 2007. So any opinion I post is based on Apple’s released specs and the reports of the few people that got to handle the iPhone for a short period of time. I do have some thoughts about the iPhone based on what I know about it now. I also posted this on a CNET post earlier today.
YES & NO on iPHONE…
Yes - The iPhone will sell to Mac & iPod fans who will rush to get the latest toy from Apple. The pictures, videos and reports of iPhone seem quite impressive even though it lacks certain features.
No - The iPhone will not be as appealing to many people. It lacks the ability to access iTunes right from the cell phone connection. It uses EDGE (Slow) for cell internet connection. It will be available only on the Cingular (AT&T) service, so if people don’t like that service they probably won’t switch just for the phone. It will not appeal to people who prefer flip phones. The iPhone is expensive and aims to replace a cell phone, ipod & pocket computer all in one device. Unless a person is in the market to replace all these devices at once this expense may not be worth it.
BUT - This is just the first release of the iPhone and as with all things Apple the iPhone will most likely improve with future generations of the device.
